At a time of rapid development within the European Community the necessity of dialogue between young people of the member states is vital. Unfortunately at the present moment in time the concept of a European Union is becoming increasingly controversial in a number of member states. A rift seems to be forming between the relatively wealthy northern and the less well-off southern member states. Moreover within the member states there seems to be an increase in nationalism and polarisation. There is an urgent need to address these issues. Awareness of the value of democracy and European citizenship is a vital asset to young Europeans so that in the future we will be able to continue as a union.
The main objective of this project is to produce a transferrable learning programme for European Citizenship through cooperation between schools from geographically contrasting European member states and Turkey.
